Sandalwood essential oil has a woody, sweet and exotic aroma, which is renowned for lingering on clothes and in the air. Sandalwood has harmonising, relaxing, sedative, soothing, relaxing and peaceful properties. It is useful in times of stress and anxiety although possibly best avoided with severe depression. Sandalwood also balances and softens skin tone and condition. Sandalwood essential oil is extracted from the bark of the tree. It is harvested no younger than 30 years old, and ideally it is left until the tree reaches maturity at 60 years.
